Mumbles is a plugin driven, DBus based notification system written for the Gnome desktop. Similar to libnotify notifications and Growl for OSX, mumbles aims to provide a modern notification system for the GNU/Linux Desktop.
Mumbles has been tested on Ubuntu (Dapper through Feisty), but should also work on other, modern, Gnome Desktops. It works on a standard Ubuntu install, but like everything else, looks especially nice when used with a compositing window manager.
